Rebirth is Inevitable

In the northern hemisphere, April is known as a wet month, a time of transition from the dark days of winter to the brighter, more colorful ones to come. Sometimes, it even means snow, and lots of it. Spring snowfalls in Colorado are normal. We expect them. And as much as we are all over winter, us coloradans know that it is what’s best for our dry land.

A few days ago, amidst the lonely days of Covid-19 quarantine, many coloradans woke to over a foot of snow, blanketing the dry earth and budding trees in bright white in only seven short hours. After the previous week of mid seventy degrees and bright sunshine, it was hard to be stuck indoors and feel the loneliness once again. This was a heavy one, both the snow itself and the feeling within the heart. But it is essential in the transition of what is next.

What is next?

Just two days later, the foot of snow has melted. The mid evening sky is making its stance as the sun sets behind the Rockies. The insects swarm in the hundreds over the calm pond and random mud filled puddles. A toad leaps across my path, just missing the toes of my sneaker, to quickly hide behind a wood post. The honeybees fly from dandelion to dandelion. The birds are happy. Their songs wake me in the morning and sing me to rest in the evening. They are the angelic voices of nature, tying together the land and the stars.

So many of us in the world are currently embracing the current reality of solitude and patience. And while we do, nature is still doing her thing. She brought in a wet snow storm, holding the hands of time as the earth transitions to life once again. She is the force that brings abundant life. She innately knows what to do, and when to do it. While we sit and wait, wondering what’s next, she creates.

Nature rebirths year after year, storm after storm, disaster after disaster. Humans are a part of her rebirth, her process. We experience inner storms and disaster, and we too come back. We rebirth. Nature’s rebirth is our mirror of hope and trust in the bigger picture of our current experience. No matter the storm, there is rebirth. It is inevitable. We will rebirth.

How will you rebirth? What will you create for your Self?

Step outside, close your eyes, and listen. You may hear what is next for you.
